What is baptism?

We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone - but saving faith is never alone. It always results in a life of obedience to Christ (Eph. 2:8-10). 1 John 2:3 says, "By this we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments." One of his important commandments is that we confess our faith in Christ through water baptism.

At Mansfield Bible Church we do not believe that baptism is required for salvation, however, the scriptures do teach there is a close connection in the minds of the apostles between belief and baptism. Faith in Christ brings forgiveness of sins. Baptism is the outward act that demonstrates inward faith.
